PARK CITY, HERE WE COME!

"Park City, here we come," was the cry heard from members of the BELLS OF JOYFUL SOUND when they heard that the ensemble had been invited to play for morning worship services at Park City Community Church. The appearance is set for Sunday morning, May 17, and the ensemble will play for both worship services that morning.

"This church is just around the corner from where I live," mused Bob Nohavec, director. "It'll be nice to get up a little later that morning than I usually do to attend church. And this congregation is a great group of people to worship with. I'm sure we'll be warmly received."

Park City Community Church is located at 4501 North Highway 224 on the way to Park City. The morning worship hours are 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

WHAT'S WITH THE "SLICK SIX"?

Recently, a new outreach was established for the BELLS OF JOYFUL SOUND through the efforts of one of its members, Jane. Jane's career field is curriculum development, and she decided to develop a curriculum unit that could be used to acquaint elementary children with the art of handbell ringing. The unit entitled "Introduction To Handbells" is a scripted hal-hour presentation designed for 6 ringers, a 4-octave set of handbells, and a 3-octave set of handchimes.

Accordingly, six ringers from the BELLS OF JOYFUL SOUND joined together to form the "Slick Six" and made their first inservice presentation on Friday morning, March 27, to approximately 300 elementary school children, grades 1 through 4, at the Wasatch Elementary School.

"What fun!" said BELLS OF JOYFUL SOUND director, Bob Nohavec, who was one of the six members of the ensemble. "The kids were enthralled and tremendously excited. Afterwards, they all had a chance to come up individually and see the bells close up and even ring some of them. It was a great experience for them and for us."

The Slick Six will be making another presentation of the inservice program at an area elementary school at the end of May. Watch for the announcement on this page soon.
